Spookaroo is a free community map of houses doing Halloween. It is run by one person in Perth, it carries no advertising, and it does not sell or share anyone's information. This page says plainly what is collected and what is shown.
Your house number is never public
This is the most important thing here. When someone lists a house, the full address is used once to place a pin on the map, and then it is kept private. What visitors see is the street name, the suburb, the state, and a map pin — never the house number. People find the house the way they always have: by looking at it.
If you list a house
- Your email address, used to sign in and to send you a reminder in September. It is never shown to visitors.
- Your address, used to place the pin. Private, as above.
- Your photos and video, which are public once approved.
If you are just looking
No account, no sign-up, nothing that identifies you. Saved houses live in your own browser and are never sent to us. A random ID is stored in your browser so that a reaction or report counts once — it is not tied to you and it is gone if you clear your browser data. Your location, if you share it, is used to sort the list and is not stored.
Photographs, and children in them
Every photo and video is reviewed by a person before it appears publicly. Uploads that show identifiable children, readable number plates or visible house numbers are rejected. If a photo of your family has ended up here, use the report link on the listing or email the address below and it will come down — same day, without argument.
How long any of it lasts
Listings are seasonal. Every listing expires on 1 November and does not return unless its owner confirms it the following September. Photos are kept afterwards only for the "best of" gallery, and you can ask for yours to be deleted at any time.
Where it is stored
On servers in Sydney, Australia, and on Cloudflare's network. Sign-in codes and reminders are sent through Amazon SES in Sydney. Nothing is sold, and there is no advertising or tracking pixel of any kind — the only analytics used are anonymous page counts.
Removing a listing
A lister can withdraw their own listing at any time and it disappears immediately. Anyone else can use Report a problem on the listing; a report that says "this is my house and I didn't list it" hides it straight away, before anyone reviews it.
